Personal
Living in Zaventem, °1968, married to Peter Rutten (amateur photographer).

I’m a caring and thoughtful person, melancholic, competitive and pretty demanding to myself and my work. I’m also a chronic pain patient. Due to a failed back surgery years ago, sitting is painful and after some time I even need to lie down. This reduced ability to sit slows me down a great deal in post-processing and other computer work.
Background
Degree in Applied Psychology
Degree in Photography and Certificate in Graphic Design (Art Academy - evening classes)
Member of Fotoclub Klik-Klak Zaventem
Career
Worked mainly as a recruiter in the private and as a project assistant in the public sector.
Working as a volunteer photographer for non profit organizations (Konekt vzw, Punt vzw).

Photography
Passionate about photography for many years. I usually shoot landscapes and to a lesser extent architecture.

In landscape photography you have to prepare well and take many parameters into account. Even then, you always depend on circumstances and especially on the light, which is unpredictable and may or may not give an added dimension to reality in that moment. It’s not so easy as it looks every photographer will agree.

Due to a lack of time, I mainly shoot while traveling. Traveling allows me to take in the sights and to gain lasting impressions. Photography allows me to relive, intensify and share my travel experience and the feeling a location evokes.

I try to walk far from the crowds and the well-trodden paths because I love those desolate and wide landscapes which correspond with my melancholic personality. Nevertheless, I do not avoid or look down on those instagrammable locations where millions have already preceded me. In the end , I am a tourist as well and this sensational nature or architecture is part of reality too. Moreover, each visit and therefore each image is different: another season, light, sky, wave,…

Next to the melancholic, dreamy element, my images often say harmony and symmetry, perhaps because of a longing for esthetics, perhaps they are a sort of therapy for my chaotic mind. Anyway I hope you enjoy my work and respect the time it takes for me to develop this website further.

Thank you so much for your visit and I hope my work has inspired you.
